Pigment or dye — how to choose
Both formulations are available. The right one is decided by the application and the substrate, not by preference.

HP FI-1000 machines run pigment ink as standard — the platform was built around durable pigment output for packaging. Dye is the exception rather than the default on that platform, so tell us the application before switching.

Do you sell original HP ink or compatible ink?
Both. We supply original HP ink, and we supply a compatible ink of our own that is very close to the original and is fully suited to HP FI-1000, HP PageWide and HP PageWide XL machines. Many customers ask us to price both so they can compare cost per litre against their own quality requirements.
Which printers is the compatible ink suitable for?
HP FI-1000 based industrial presses, HP PageWide based industrial label printers, and HP PageWide XL wide-format machines. If you tell us the exact make and model we confirm suitability before quoting.
What is the difference between pigment and dye ink?
Pigment ink uses solid colour particles suspended in the carrier fluid. It is more durable — better water resistance, scratch resistance and lightfastness — which is why it dominates packaging, outdoor and regulatory labelling. Dye ink is water-soluble, with the colourant dissolved in the fluid. It typically gives a wider, more vivid colour gamut on coated media and costs less, but it is less resistant to water, rubbing and UV exposure.
Which one should I use?
As a rule: pigment for packaging, shipping, chemical and GHS labelling, anything exposed to moisture or handling, and anything that has to stay legible over time. Dye where colour vibrancy on coated stock matters more than durability and the print has a short life. If you are not sure, tell us the application and substrate in the form below and we will advise.
Can I switch from original HP ink to compatible ink on a running machine?
This depends on the machine, on what is currently in the ink system, and on how the changeover is done. Mixing incompatible chemistries in a shared ink path is the fastest way to damage a printhead, so this is not a step to improvise. Ask us before you switch and we will tell you what the changeover involves for your specific machine.
Why is pricing not published on the page?
Ink pricing depends on formulation, colour set, volume and destination, and industrial buyers rarely need a single-unit price. We answer every request individually with real numbers for your configuration rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most readers.
What volumes do you supply?
From single-set replacement through to bulk supply for continuous production. Tell us your monthly or annual consumption in the request form and we will quote the volume that actually fits your usage.
