How a repair job runs

  1. 1. Nozzle test

    You send a nozzle test print and describe what the machine was doing when the fault appeared. That alone narrows the root cause considerably.

  2. 2. Diagnosis

    We identify the failure pattern — sector, row or random dropout — and tell you whether recovery is realistic before anything is dismantled.

  3. 3. Scope and quote

    You get the work scope and the price up front, including whether the ink delivery system needs service too. No open-ended billing.

  4. 4. Service or replace

    We recover the head where it can be recovered, and supply a replacement where it cannot. Either way the machine goes back into production.

What we can and cannot recover

Usually recoverable

  • Nozzles blocked by dried ink after idle time or an uncapped stop
  • Contaminated ink paths and clogged supply filters
  • Air-lock following an ink starvation event
  • Nozzle plate contamination from paper dust, fibre or substrate coating
  • Degraded capping and wiping performance causing repeat dropouts

Not recoverable

  • Electrically dead die segments — no flushing process brings these back
  • Physical damage to the nozzle plate or the die surface
  • Heads damaged by repeated aggressive purging after they had already dried out
  • Damage from ink chemistry incompatible with the head

In these cases we quote a replacement head instead of charging for work that cannot succeed.

Which printheads does InkBags repair?

We work on industrial HP thermal inkjet printheads: the HP FI-1000 Fixed Imager used in single-pass packaging and envelope presses, and HP PageWide printheads used in industrial label and wide-format machines. We do not work on Memjet printheads, which are a different technology.

How do I find out whether my printhead can be repaired?

Send us a nozzle test print plus a short description of what the machine was doing when the fault appeared. The pattern of the missing nozzles — sector-shaped, row-shaped or random — tells us the likely root cause and whether recovery is realistic before anyone dismantles anything.

What can actually be recovered, and what cannot?

Blocked nozzles, dried ink, contaminated ink paths and air-lock following ink starvation are recoverable in a large share of cases. Physical or electrical damage to a die segment is not recoverable by any process — that head has to be replaced, and we say so rather than billing for work that cannot succeed.

How much does printhead repair cost and how long does it take?

Both depend on the failure mode and on whether the ink delivery system also needs service. We quote per case after seeing the nozzle test, and we tell you the realistic timeline before you take the machine apart.

Do you supply replacement printheads if repair is not viable?

Yes. We supply replacement printheads as well as original and compatible ink, so a machine that cannot be recovered does not have to sit idle waiting for a separate supplier.

Do I have to send the whole printer?

No — in most cases only the printhead assembly. Tell us the machine and we will confirm exactly what needs to come out and how to pack it so the head survives transit.
