What failure looks like on a BM300

  • White stripe down the length of a run of bags or boxes — the classic dead-sector signature on a fixed head.
  • Paper dust and fibre from cardboard substrates loading the wiper and capping station, then transferring back onto the nozzle plate.
  • Density loss on one channel after the machine has stood over a weekend without a proper cap-down.
  • Ink starvation when running long, heavy-coverage jobs on absorbent kraft board.
Photograph or scan the nozzle test print before you run any more recovery cycles. Repeated aggressive purging on a head that has already dried out can turn a recoverable fault into a replacement.

How we approach a BM300 printhead

Note 1

The BM300 runs uncoated, dusty substrates — kraft board and paper bags — so the dominant failure driver on this machine is abrasive fibre contamination of the nozzle plate, not ink chemistry. Service therefore always includes the wiper and cap assembly, not just the head.

Note 2

Because the BM300 prints the full 297 mm in one pass at up to 27 m/min, a partially blocked die shows up as a visible defect on every single piece — there is no second pass to mask it.

Note 3

We check the ink supply path end to end on this machine: on heavy-coverage packaging work, starvation at speed damages heads that were otherwise healthy.

My BM300 prints a white line down every bag. Is the head dead?

Not necessarily. On the BM300 the most common cause is fibre and paper dust contamination on the nozzle plate plus a wiper that is no longer cleaning properly — that is recoverable. A genuinely dead die segment is also possible. A nozzle test print tells the two apart.

Do you service the BM300 ink system as well as the printhead?

Yes. On a dusty-substrate machine like the BM300, servicing the head without servicing the capping, wiping and ink supply usually means the same fault returns within weeks.
